Longhorn simulator in PowerPoint

Postby nedvire » August 30th, 2016, 9:00 pm

Please check out Brian78456's simulator too! Just click here!

After feeling inspired by the Windows 8.1 simulator made by Brian78456, I made a slide that looks like the Hillel demo. I continued making slides and made a Longhorn simulator. I wanted to share it with you because I like doing big projects.

Anyone may contribute to this by uploading the modified PowerPoint with their changes, I'll put a Contributers.txt file in the folder with your name in it. If you do want to contribute, don't change the order of the slides. Add a new section at the bottom. Also, every text, button, etc. is an object, not a photo! (Except for the windows logo, the aurora panel, certain difficult-to-make icons, etc). If possible, include a changelog.

The changelog will be in the notes of the first slide. Please note that the file is big!

I will upload the simulator into the mediafire folder below. I will start deleting old versions once there's no space anymore.

Well, the problem on Microsoft for Mac 2011 is that it requires a plugin to be installed to "listen to audio content" - even if it still works without it -

The button from that notification redirects me to: https://support.office.com/en-us/articl ... n-US&ad=US

And when I'm on my desktop, the "Back to the previous slide" button covers the start menu - too much lag for me to take a screenshot -
Tomorrow I will test it on my Windows Tablet to check it more deeper.
Nice idea with the animated desktop too!

Ah, I see. I'll put "Convert media files to MP3" on my list for v1.2. Thank you!
You can disable that toolbar in the preferences menu IIRC, but it could be that it's just for 2016. Will look into it.
Oh, expect more animations too!

Will be uploading v1.1 right now. I'll also convert the sounds to mp3 for v1.2, will upload that a bit later.

Changelog v1.1
- Tweaked search animation
- Tweaked user tile
- Removed glass background in OOBE
- “Optimized media”
- Added shadows in OOBE
- More info in OOBE
- Added XP OOBE music in sidebar when clicking on the audio tile
- Fixed a few aero star transparency issues
- Tweaked search
- Added power off option in the start menu
- Highlighting Jim’s PC works
- Added mention of Brian78456’s simulator
- Compressed media as an experiment

Felt creative lol

Emergency update uploading right now.

I didn't want to release this so quickly but I forgot to change some sounds, meaning the simulator didn't work on the Mac version of Office. There are however new things included.

Changelog v1.3
- Changed some sounds to their mp3 version
- Improved window borders
- Fixed startup sound
- OOBE enabled
- More information in OOBE
- Easier navigation in OOBE
- Added ability to get into OOBE through start menu
- OOBE music now plays when you skip the graphics test part
- Ability to use the legacy pre-simulator
- Other OOBE changes
- User tile clicking issues fixed
- Added computer icon to the Jim’s PC highlight
- Added icons on mouse over OOBE and power
- Slides cleaned up
- Added “Jim’s PC”
- Fixed some graphical issues
- Fix: Aurora play timing adjusted
- Minor text fixes

I'll be releasing loads of new things before Monday because I'll be pretty busy from Monday on. This is so I can hear problems from you when I go to work on it again.

(Unfortunately, I can't edit my last post)

Another smaller update uploading, v1.4. Mostly cleaning up the UI before adding a bunch of stuff.

Changelog v1.4
- Pre-simulator removed
- Increased readability of certain text
- Removed “People near me”
- Added some new things to Jim’s pc
- Jim’s pc’s development is paused
- Reduced stacks options (May reappear in the future)
- Removed location search (May reappear in the future)
- Added news tile to the sidebar
- Added Internet (albeit unreachable and unfinished)
- Delay removed from animations (Jim's PC)
- Removed those three aurora lines in the “How smooth were your graphics” slide
- Fixed some fade issues in the start menu
- Removed the aurora texture behind windows
- Removed forward button because of no use at the moment
- Minor text fixes

Edit: It's up

Other than the audio not working (Office 2010 for Windows) and the start button being covered up by the back arrow, it looks and works very very well :)

You can disable that toolbar with the back button in Options > Advanced > Disable "Show popup toolbar" under Slide Show.
Also, could you try playing the sounds manually outside of the slide show? Just go to a slide with a sound (21, 22, etc.) and scroll to outside of the slide and try playing the sound.

I didn't know you can get rid of that toolbar. Good to know. Also, I'll be playing around with the sounds :)
