The Collection

Postby MS-GIL » November 12th, 2016, 9:01 am

Recently, I have started collecting sealed copies of windows (Pictured below) and I figure that I am not the only one who does this type of thing. So I decided to make a thread devoted to everyone's Windows related collections, whether it be software, or different copies of stuff like I am doing. In conclusion, please share your collections below. I look forward to seeing them all :D

My first item in my collection of unopened and complete sets of windows software:

(Yes this is an actual image of the item I own, shrink wrapped and everything. I just cropped the image)

I only have one Asus Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x32 OEM Recovery DVD (if I remember correctly the "home premium" part) and nobody nearby sells original old Windows copies so that's the only original Windows that I have on DVD (also it doesn't run on other computers than the laptop which that DVD came with).

It's mostly useless since that laptop it's running Windows Server 2012 R2 and macOS 10.6.8 and I will never downgrade it anymore since it looks like it's happy with that dual boot configuration and it's loving it, so it stays in that paper all the time like it was never opened before.

I hope that it fits in this topic even if:
- the paper it came in wasn't glued and it never had a band with glue to keep it somewhat sealed;
- the dvd was used for 2-3 times before it ended in my hands;
- it's a recovery DVD with full Windows Vista almost clean installation.

Its just banything you've collected that has to do with windows. Another example of something I own:

(They were 49 cents a piece at my local thrift store and the jewel cases are original to the discs.)

Due to the fact I cannot edit the above posts, here comes more spam.
I just won an auction on Ebay that is a sealed copy of Windows 98.

Well, two days ago my grandfather got a free computer with tons of CDs and DVDs with it, so, as usual, he asked me for help with it because he doesn't know anything about computers, so, I started to search through those CDs and DVDs and I found some original products, here they are:

Dell recovery disk (Windows XP Pro SP2):
Image

Windows XP Pro SP2 installation CDs (two CDs, I don't have their keys :( ):

CD1:

CD2:

Also, I got a romanian language interface pack which to be honest, I hate and I will never use it even if I would be forced to live on Windows XP SP2/3:

Oh, and finally I can say that I own two Office licenses :) - one which came with my windows tablet and the one in the pictures below - :

The case:

CD2:

To be honest, I kinda like this "hologram technology" print but it's hard to take photos of it.
It's very reflective and it's very colorful, I wish I could take a photo with everything that it can show but it's way too reflective, so:
- photos may end mostly dark;
- the images would mostly be just a white dot;
- I would end in a picture.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how I could take a photo of each way those CDs can display their printed surface and also avoiding the issues I mentioned above?

Oh, and also I have some "Armanda series recovery disks" but when I inserted them in one of my computers, thei didn't seem to have any Windows on them so I ignored them for now, also, someone said that tomorrow I may get another original Windows XP(it wasn't sure which Windows version it would be) CD, if I get it, I will post it here too!
