Can Windows 2000 Take The Title Of The Most Stable Version Of Windows?

Postby SonicKnuckles1998 » August 3rd, 2016, 3:19 am

I've used basically every version of Windows. 1.0, 2.0, 3.1, 95, NT, 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10. In my experience, I've seen every single one of those OSes crash at least once, except for 2000. (unless you count that bsod in the whistler series)
But, here's the question that must be asked. Can Windows 2000 be considered the most stable version of Windows?

It is probably a close one with XP because I have tortured both operating systems and they held up really really well. I'd consider it a tie. Beats anything after or before them. So I'd say its a tie between 2000 and XP :)

*UPDATE* While running Firefox version 10 on physical hardware (which windows 2000 supports), I would go to a webpage (that wasn't google or MSN) and I would be on there for 30 seconds before it would blue screen and restart. So I think Windows XP wins :)

I'd say 7 wins, to be honest.
How to count to 10: 1, 2, 3, 3.1, NT 3.1, NT 3.5, 95, NT 4, 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10.

I would choose Windows Server since it is made to be stable (not the 2016 TP of course - I hate how unstable that one is - ) since I used it more than any other OS without having issues (only recently I got some weird BSODs on my other PC because of a very troublemaker motherboard which somehow broke Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard edition and forced me to upgrade to the Datacenter edition...) to be honest... since Server 2008 R2 runs smooth even if it has just 1GB RAM and a broken HDD to work with also it does support things which 7 does support. But I honestly didn't tested 2000 in a non-virtual enviorment (and on virtual enviorment the network didn't worked at all, only the server edition of 2000 had working network).

2k have never given me a BSOD, so I think this is one of the most stable Windows versions.

I'd have to agree with MajorSky and also say 7.

Can I suggest a weird one: Windows 8.1

In the short time that I used it, I never experienced any crashes or BSOD's. Even my drivers from Windows 8 OS carried over fine. Windows 10 on the other hand... *Shudder* :?

I used it as a daily driver and never had an issue. Just the UI was awful. That's not a stability problem though.

It's got Technical Preview in the name. No wonder it's unstable.
