Driver error - Bongiovi DPS

Postby alexandru_c » July 22nd, 2016, 6:31 am

Well, today after I updated my Server 2008 R2 Standard installation from a computer in house, I decided to install Bongiovi DPS so I can use my headphones and get better audio (how I get on my Server 2008 R2 Datacenter on my laptop).
After it managed to install I got the "DPS Driver not found. Err = 1001" error message:
not found.PNG
(7.11 KiB) Downloaded 379 times
not found.PNG
(7.11 KiB) Downloaded 379 times

So I decided to check for the driver and noticed this:
but here.PNG
(52.28 KiB) Downloaded 379 times
but here.PNG
(52.28 KiB) Downloaded 379 times

Well, after that I reinstalled the Bongiovi DPS and got the same error, restarted the computer then reinstalled Bongiovi DPS and got same error.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I would really like to have it working properly.

If anyone ask, here's the dxdiag with all his pages: http://imgur.com/a/BT9gF

Windows does not like when drivers are not digitally signed properly.

But they are, until it refreshes the driver list. Also, on my: Windows Tablet; HP Laptop, that driver is digitally signed properly.

Is there a way to get digitally signet properly one off my other windows setups and then load it to this one?

You can create a digital signing certificate by using this link. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd919238(v=ws.10).aspx

Yes, also installed as "admin" on my hp laptop too, the "admin" I'm talking about is the "Administrator" account which is hidden in consumers versions of Windows and main and only default account on server editions of Windows.
So, the "Run as administrator" "command" was auto-executed.

I would like to add the followings since they offered some details at my ticket (Edit button doesn't work and also I asked for help in booth 2 locations since in this way I think that my problem can be fixed more easy and/or faster):
Bongiovi DPS Support - 58 minutes ago - wrote:Alexandru_c,

Unfortunately, DPS 2.0 is not compatible with Windows Server 2008. This is due to the WHQL hardware level certification necessary to run on Windows 2008. DPS 2.0 is compatible with Windows 7 and up. Our driver is registered with Microsoft and is signed according to Windows 10 standards. Microsoft has advised us that it is not possible to get WHQL signing for a virtual audio driver like ours. So 2008 compatibility is not likely in the future.

Well, they said something new:
Bongiovi DPS Support - 1 hour ago - wrote:Alexandru_c,

That is very surprising. That's great that you have it working on one of your machines. It is our understanding that it should not be working. DPS 2.0 is not supported on Windows Server 2008. Clearly there is some difference with the Datacenter version of Windows Server 2008 that allows drivers without WHQL signing to operate.
I will forward your report to my engineers.

Meanwhile they manage to do something, does anyone know what else I can try to do to get that driver working on the Standard Edition of Windows Server 2008 R2 or I really need to install the Datacenter version and mess around with the very trouble making drivers of this computer?

Since when I tested that I failed hard because I didn't have what they used there and also DPS Support wouldn't help at all.
DPS Support - on first of August - wrote:Alexandru_c,

DPS 2.0 for Windows is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 10. We are not compatible with Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2 or, to our knowledge Windows Server 2012. If you are able to use it on your Windows Server machine , that is great! We are under the impression that our product will not work on that operating system and do not support it. Nothing new has happened. Our development team has been advised by Microsoft that we will be unable to get the proper device signing certification and as such we are not working on trying to achieve that certification. We do not plan to attempt to get the driver signed for Windows Server.

Thank you,

Dan Rice

I choosed to to upgrade that computer to the Datacenter edition of Windows Server 2008 R2 and my other laptop that I have to Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter.

Not a problem! I suppose this should be locked since the problem is not existing?
