New User Post Moderation

Postby MajorSky17 » May 30th, 2016, 9:41 am

Hi all,

Owing to the significant number of new user registrations by trolls/spammers, we are implementing post moderation for new users. This means that new users' posts will need to be reviewed and approved by a moderator before they are publically visible on the forum. This will remain the case for a certain number of the new user's posts - though we will not specify this number for obvious reasons. The number of acceptable posts required before the user is allowed to post freely will also periodically change very slightly to ensure it is not easily discoverable.

This new system will ensure that posts by new members that break the rules and are potentially distressing to members will not be visible. If a post by a new member breaks any rules, the member will be warned/banned as appropriate, and the post in question removed from the forum.

Feel free to drop any questions you have here!

Note to moderators: posts requiring approval will show up in your Notifications menu.

But what about PMs? Do they count too? Because they should be moderated too (screenshot sent yesterday in a PM on Twitter)

The staff don't have access to PMs of other members, so in this case we would rely on members reporting inappropriate PMs. When a PM is reported, it shows up in a moderator's Notifications queue so that they can investigate and take action as needed.
